This is for infants, but using a little bigger bath towel this same concept could be made for a toddler. For older children use two bath towels, which has enough fabric for sleeves and a hood. Adult can be fitted using bathsheets or beach towels. They can also be made as a pull-over or a zipper up the front. Some of the nicest things about using bath towels are the many colors to choose from along with the different quality of the towels themselves. Toweling is stronger than most "fabric" toweling that you can purchase. The design possibilities are infinite.

The urge to be creative! Check out this work in progress by a current sewing student.
This is a tote bag in progress that one of my students has been working on. It's a great beginner project and will make a great gift (one-on-a-kind) for a member of her family. An easy sew, yet very time consuming and very creative and special.
Scrap Bag Quilts
Scrap bag quilts are great beginner sewing projects for creating one of a kind quilts. As a custom sewer there is always quite a bit of wonderful fabric left over. Also doing a lot of embroidery and stitching out samples creates lots of embroidery designs that can be incorporated into these "scrap bag quilts". Many quilt shops sell their ends and pieces to sewers, and "fat quarters" are always a wonderful way to increase your stash of beautiful fabrics. These quilts are always wonderfully beautiful, colorful, and interesting, and always unique, never to be duplicated.
